Winter Solstice at Stonehenge

Winter Solstice at Stonehenge

After a three-year absence, Martin Palethorpe will be back at Stonehenge on 22nd December 2022 to sing with Shakti Sings Choir for the winter Solstice.

Join the celebrations?

We can attest that Winter Solstice at Stonehenge is an incredibly unique morning, so if you can make it in person you won’t be disappointed. It’s a fascinating way to experience and reflect on England’s ancient past and rituals. Sunrise is at 08.11am and English Heritage are expected to offer a short period of access, from first light or safe enough to enter the monument field (approximately 07.00am until 09.30am).

If you’re unable to be there, you can watch the ceremony and singing online, accessing the entire experience via English Heritage who will be live streaming the sunrise on the morning of 22 December for free on their digital channels. Visit the official Stonehenge or English Heritage Facebook page, or the English Heritage YouTube channel.

Here’s a link to everything you might need to know about the managed Winter Solstice arrangements.

Below are a couple of videos and pictures from years gone by to give you a feel for the Solstice celebrations.

Hope to see you there!
